Privacy policy
This policy explains what information Poshan collects, why, and your choices. Poshan is run by Dr Rajesh Bandgar, MBBS, MD, who is responsible for your data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. What we collect
- Calculator details (name, age, sex, height, weight, body fat, diet pattern, goal, activity): used only to show your results. They are saved in your own browser so they are there next time, and are not sent to us. The only exception is an anonymous count: when you complete a plan, we record your diet pattern and goal type, and when you install Poshan or open it from your home screen, we add one to a total. No name, age, body measurements or other identifying details are recorded, so we can see only how many plans are made and how many people use Poshan as an app.
- Meal reminders (only if you turn them on in the installed app): we store your phone's push address and the meal times you chose, only to send the reminders. What you eat and your plan stay on your phone, and the reminder text is created on your phone. Turn reminders off at any time in the app, and the address is deleted.
- Visit statistics: Vercel Web Analytics counts page views, the referring site and the country, without cookies and without identifying you.
- Account details (name and email, or Google sign-in): used to keep your Pro access on your devices. If you buy Pro, the name, sex, birth year and height you entered are also saved with your account, because Pro is linked to one person for personal use. Your weight and other calculator details stay on your device.
- Consultation details (name, age, sex, WhatsApp number, email, your health concern and description, preferred call type and time, and your Poshan plan if you choose to attach it): used only to prepare for and carry out your consultation.
- Payment records (amount, date and the UPI transaction ID you enter): used to match your payment and kept for accounting and tax. We never collect your UPI PIN or bank login.
- Reports you send on WhatsApp: used only for your consultation.
2. Health information
Health details are sensitive. We use them only to give you the service you asked for, with your consent, which you give by entering and submitting them. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Who processes your data for us
- Google Firebase: sign-in and storage of account and booking records
- Vercel: website hosting
- Your UPI app and bank: process the payment under their own terms
- Resend and CallMeBot: delivering booking details to the doctor by email and WhatsApp
- WhatsApp: communication with you about your consultation
These providers process data only to run their part of the service. Some may store data outside India under their own security safeguards.
4. How long we keep it
Consultation records are kept for 3 years, in line with medical record practice, unless the law requires longer. Account data is kept while your account is active. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.
5. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or raise a complaint. Write to the contact below. We reply within 30 days. Deleting data may end your access to Pro or an ongoing consultation. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
6. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and account and booking records can be read only by you and the doctor. No system is fully secure, so please do not share more health detail than the consultation needs.
7. Age
Poshan is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version.
